Itinerary (SCOTLAND) |
Tuesday
A member of U.S. Junior Tours travel staff
will meet you at your arrival area. After introductions and a short
meeting with your teammates, you will board your flight to Europe.
The overnight flight includes meals, movies, and beverage services.
Wednesday
Arrival at Edinburgh, Scotland the next morning, after clearing
customs and immigration we will transfer to St. Andrews - the home
of golf, check into St. Andrew's University followed by a short walk
into the village to exchange money and grab a snack. Later in the
day a 2-hour session at St. Andrews Links Trust Golf Academy
followed by dinner and a group meeting at New Hall. Very early to
bed for all as the time change will catch up with you. Optional
balloting for Thursday play on The Old Course,
Thursday
Breakfast as a group and a 2-hour lesson and practice at St.
Andrews Practice Center, lunch on your own at the Eden Clubhouse,
followed by a round on The Strathtyrum Course, part of St. Andrews
Links Trust, and dinner at New Hall. Time available to explore St.
Andrews, or you may wish go to the putting green prior to curfew.
Optional balloting for Friday play on The Old Course,
Friday
Breakfast as a group and a day of unlimited play on five of the
St. Andrews Links Trust Courses. USJT staff will assist in golfers
selection of courses and obtaining tee times. Friday night
supervised free time in the village to shop or make new friends.
Optional balloting for Saturday play on The Old Course,
Saturday
Breakfast as a group and a day of unlimited play on five of the
St. Andrews Links Trust Courses. USJT staff will assist in golfers
selection of courses and obtaining tee times. Enjoy a visit to The
British National Golf Museum or a stroll around the university
campus, dinner at New Hall and supervised free time later in the
day.
Sunday
Sleep in or choose time to worship, the group will meet later in
the morning to walk the Old Course (it is closed on Sundays), take
pictures in front of the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and on the
Swilcan Bridge, see the famous Road Hole Bunker on the 17th,
and even stand in a bunker bigger than you! Optional golf will be
arranged for those who wish to play; practice and putting facilities
will be available as well.
Monday
Breakfast as a group and
mid-morning departure for our
Leven Thistle Golf Club pairs competition at the Leven Links Golf
Course in Leven. (It is pronounced Lēvěn). Leven Thistle Golf Club
and Leven Golfing Society share this golf course. There will be two
of our members on each team and will compete against other Scottish
two-person teams. The Stableford Scoring System will be used. Leven
Thistle is expecting between 20-30 teams to be entered. Leven Links
opened with 9 holes in 1860 and increased to 18 holes in 1868.
This is a true seaside links course which
hosts many national and international events including final
qualifying for the Open Championship when held at St Andrews. Dinner
at New Hall and a wee bit of time to shop, call home, or interact
with team mates.
Tuesday
Breakfast as a group and mid-morning departure for our match vs.
Scotscraig Golf Club, the 13th oldest golf club in the
world! Competitors will share a meal, followed by awards
presentations, social time, and a short lecture of the history of
the club. Dinner at New Hall
Wednesday
Breakfast as a group and mid-morning departure
for play in the Lundin Junior Open at Lundin Links Golf Club, in
Lundin. This course, founded 1868,
offers a mixture of true links conditions.
There is a host of beautiful views and is by no means an easy
course, yet can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities. Lundin Links
is used as a final pre-qualifying course prior to the Open
Championship. Dinner at New Hall, distribute passports and tickets,
time for all to pack and say many good-byes.
Thursday
Early wake up and breakfast, depart 6:00AM for Edinburgh
International Airport. Arrive at the gateway airport later that same
afternoon.
